The Danetree Village Consortium
Delivering Daventry's Growth

Your feedback

The scheme is proposed in response to Daventry District Council’s 2021 Vision to increase the size of the town and increase the population from 23,000 to 40,000 by 2021. The Danetree Village extension would play a significant part in helping the Council meet these targets.

During the previous round of consultation with local residents, community groups and representatives it was clear that there were a number of concerns and recommendations. All comments received were carefully considered to see if they could be accommodated. Please follow the links below for an update on how our proposals for delivering Daventry’s growth have evolved in light of your feed back.

The Danetree Village Design

The Danetree Village extension vision

Your feedback:

  • You liked our vision for creating a village feel.
  • There were concerns over the scale of the proposal, in particular how far east along the A45 the development stretched.

Danetree village will be designed to retain the style and feel of a traditional Northamptonshire village, with plenty of open space and village greens providing a focus for the new community

In light of the comments made we have significantly reduced the size and scale of our proposal. As a result we have moved the eastern boundary of our scheme closer to Daventry.

Danetree Village will create job opportunities in a wide variety of sectors which will help bolster the local economy and bring spending power to Daventry Town Centre. Our proposals will also help bring about the regeneration of The Marches Industrial Area.

Community Facilities

Your feedback:

  • Delivery of community amenities and facilities was considered important.
  • The development brings with it a potential for an increase in crime.

We will work very closely with various agencies including the County Council, Primary Care Trust, Daventry District Council and other to ensure all the necessary facilities, such as community centres, shops and health centres are provided.

In addition we will reduce the potential for crime/criminal behaviour through careful design of residential and community areas. We will also provide dedicated facilities for young people.

The Borough Hill vision

Your feedback:

  • Borough Hill could be improved in a sensitive and natural way and should not be over-developed.

It was agreed that Borough Hill makes a significant contribution both due to its historic importance and the setting of Daventry. It was felt that there are opportunities to improve the attractiveness of this landmark feature as an amenity for local people by way of improved accessibility and minor sensitive improvements, including a review of the management of the area.

Sustainabilty and Community

Your feedback:

  • The new development could increase the risk of flooding.
  • Flood prevention is important.
  • Sustainablility and protection of the environment was seen by many as a very important issue.
  • The concept of a sustainable community, not just housing, was seen as a move in the right direction.

We will conduct a detailed analysis of the flood risk and will put in place measures such as balancing ponds to avoid increasing the risk of flooding.

A full and thorough Environmental Impact Assessment will be undertaken to assess the environmental impacts the development will have and how best to minimise any adverse impact.

It is out aim to create a sustainable community with high quality homes and jobs for Daventry, with much needed local facilities to ensure a high quality of life for all. The Danetree Village Consortium believes that sustainable communities are places where people will enjoy living in a safe, pedestrian friendly, clean and green environment.

Open space

Your feedback:

  • Provision of open space was very important.
  • A green buffer was essential to minimise the impact of the new development.

Land use vision

Within the masterplan we have included a significant amount of open space which will help create a village feel to the development. The open space will be easily accessible to all those living in the village.

We have increased the size of our landscape buffer to help minimise the visual impact of the development

Transport

Your feedback:

  • Contributions towards a bypass would be a major benefit.
  • There would be an increase in traffic generation.
  • The Danetree Village should be well connected to the Town Centre.

The Transport vision

Access and connectivity are key to linking the village extension to Daventry Town Centre as well as creating public transport networks to the surrounding area. By creating a pedestrian friendly sustainable community with all the facilities on site we aim to reduce the need to travel by car. We will provide a high quality link onto the A45 in the south, and the Norton Road in the north to link Danetree Village into Daventry and the town centre.
